Sleep & Support Services
Pneumatic cells are now commonly used to customize sleep
surfaces to prevent injuries commonly associated with long-term bed rest. These air cells must endure contact with
bodily fluid (urine, blood, sputum, etc.), excessive loading from bariatric
patients, excessive cycling, caustic
washing chemicals, and even needle sticks.
That is why Dielectrics designs customized multi-layer laminates. With resistant materials and robust welding
technology, these air cells will hold up to more abuse than the bed cover
itself.
Apart from being strong, these thermoplastic laminate
constructs must also accommodate a variety of applications and patients. One advantage of air cell technology is that
it is infinitely adjustable to change the contours of a surface, the height of
a surface, and the hardness of the surface.
With the advances of this technology, many therapies traditionally
performed by nurses can now be automated.
Dielectrics developed Profile
technology that enables design to control zones of air pockets within a defined
3D space. These are the types of
innovations that we offer the client.
With the mounting concerns over disease transmission, Dielectrics has
developed equipment to cost-effectively fabricate covers with hermetic seams. Traditional methods of sewing poke hundreds
of small holes in an otherwise resistant fabric, which can be breeding grounds
for bacteria. By employing RF welding
techniques, the mattress, and wheelchair seat covers are air and bacteria
resistant because there are no unprotected places for it to grow.
